Pitch, Hit & Run Qualifying Returns to Bowman Field April 19

The Williamsport Crosscutters in association with The Williamsport Recreation Department and the River Valley Regional YMCA will be holding a local PITCH, HIT & RUN competition.  The event will be held on Saturday, April 19 at Bowman Field, W. Fourth St., Williamsport.  Registration begins at 9am with competition starting at 10am.  This is the only PITCH, HIT & RUN qualifying competition scheduled for this area.

PITCH, HIT & RUN is the Official Skills Competition of Major League Baseball.  This grassroots program is designed to provide youngsters with an opportunity to compete, free of charge, in a competition that recognizes individual excellence in core baseball skills.

Competitors are divided into four age divisions: 7/8, 9/10, 11/12, 13/14 and have the chance to advance through four levels of competition, including Team Championships at Major League ballparks and the National Finals at the 2008 Major League All-Star Game at Yankee Stadium.

The individual Pitching, Hitting and Running Champions, along with the All-Around Champion in each age group from the qualifying competition at Bowman Field will advance to the next level of competition.

Bats and balls will be provided and metal spikes are prohibited.  All participants must bring a copy of their birth certificate and a registration/waiver must be completed by parents prior to the start of competition.  Participants can pre-register in Williamsport at The River Valley Regional YMCA or at The Center.  Registration can also be done on the day of the event at Bowman Field.

Complete rules and information are available at the Williamsport Crosscutters offices at Bowman Field or by calling the Cutters Hotline at (570) 326-3389.
