Cutters Pound
MuckDogs 8-2 Sorgi collected a single and three doubles, including a three-run two-bagger to cap a four-run eighth inning. The 22-year-old shortstop raised his batting average to .207 after managing just 14 hits in his first 83 professional at-bats. Kirk Bacsu and Jermaine Williams also drove in runs for the Cutters. The Cutters took a 1-0 lead in the top of the second when Tim Kennelly drove in Matt Rizzotti with a double. The Muckdogs took the a 2-1in the home half of the second, an inning that saw Crosscutters catcher Caleb Mangum leave the game after taking a ball off his throat. A pitch from Tyson Brummett kicked up off the dirt and struck Mangum under his mask. Mangum had trouble swallowing at the time, but was fine after the game, and may play on Sunday. Williamsport tied the game in the third, posting their first of seven unanswered runs when Adam Sorgi scored on a wild pitch. The Crosscutters plated two runs in the sixth, and four more in the eighth to seal the victory. The Cutters got another strong outing from Brummett (3-5), who allowed two runs on seven hits over seven innings while striking out a career-high eight batters. Moises Melendez pitched the final two innings, and recorded four of the six outs over those frames via strikeout. The Crosscutters play the Muckdogs Sunday afternoon at
