Part Time Seasonal Employment

Mascot Performer
Employment Dates- June 1 - Sept. 2, 2008 (plus events throughout the year subject to availability)

The Williamsport Crosscutters are seeking applicants for their new mascot, Boomer!  Applicants should be creative, energetic, and customer-focused individuals with strong interpersonal skills (especially with children).   

Applicants should be skilled in physical performance, and spontaneous crowd-interaction.  Dance skills are a plus! 

The performer will work all Crosscutters home games from June-September, plus appearances at schools and other functions as availability permits. 

Final candidates will be required to submit to a background check.

Head Groundskeeper- POSITION FILLED FOR 2008
Employment Dates: May 1, 2008 - September 15, 2008 

Duties: Head Groundskeeper will be responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of Bowman Field to professional baseball standards. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
A. Turf Maintenance- mowing, sodding, edging, over seeding, weed control, and irrigation.
B. Infield Skin Maintenance- grading, conditioning, dragging, raking
C. Mounds & Plate Areas- building, grading, conditioning, maintaining
D. Warning Track- grading, dragging, weed control
E. Rain Situations- tarp pulling, field conditioning
F. Batting Practice & Game Set Up-screens, cages, turf armor, chalking, dragging, irrigating
G. Work directly with the Pittsburgh Pirates coaching staff for scheduling of workouts etc.

Experience:  Some experience in baseball field maintenance is preferred, but is not required. Experience with turf maintenance also helpful. More importantly we are looking for an individual who is hard working, self-motivated, and that has a goal of working in the Grounds, Turf industry as a profession. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. is also preferred.

Schedule: This is a full-time seasonal position that could turn into a full time year round position for the right candidate. Head Groundskeeper will be required to work long hours (including weekends) at Bowman Field. Typical game day starts at 9:00 a.m., and ends 1-2 hours after the game ends. The hours worked are very long, but also very rewarding.

Salary: commensurate with experience

Asst. to the Head Groundskeeper   POSITION FILLED FOR 2008
Employment Dates- Mid May - September 5, 2008 (dependent upon availability/start of school)

Duties: Assist the Head Groundskeeper in all facets of baseball field maintenance; including but not limited to; Turf Maint., Infield Skin Maint., Mounds & Plates, Warning Track, Rain Situations etc.

Hours: Maximum 40 hours per week.  Shifts will vary dependent on game schedule.  Some weekends required.

Compensation: $7.50 per hour

Clubhouse Manager  
Dates:
June 2008 - September 2008 (dependent upon availability/start of school)

Duties: The Clubhouse Manager will report directly to the general manager.

The Clubhouse Manager will:

O Be responsible for maintenance of home and visiting clubhouse
O Plan post-game meals and snacks
O Be responsible for umpire’s room
O Maintain all equipment, uniforms
O No travel required

Compensation/Work Related Expenses/Coverage:

Clubhouse manager will be paid $500.00 per month plus dues (2007-$25.00 per player every two weeks). All workers are covered by the Crosscutters’ disability and worker’s compensation policies.

2008 Internship Programs

Stadium Operations Intern
Dates:
May 2008-August/September 2008 (dependent upon availability/start of school)

Duties: The Stadium Operations intern will report directly to the general manager. He/she will supervise a part-time staff of 8-10 ushers and 3 park cleaners.

The Stadium Operations Intern will:

O Be responsible for upkeep/maintenance of the stadium throughout the season
O Train and supervise a part-time staff of 8-10 ushers (park cleaners need not be trained)
O Assist with on-field promotions, game programs and concourse functions as well as stadium       operations as deemed necessary by the general manager
O   Work directly with head groundskeeper during pre-season and pre-game and post-game field maintenance
O Perform any other duties deemed necessary by your supervisor(s)

Compensation/Work Related Expenses/Coverage:  Interns are to be paid $500.00 per month. All interns are covered by the Crosscutters’ disability and worker’s compensation policies. Client Services Intern - POSITION FILLED FOR 2008

Duties: The Client Services Intern will report directly to the Director of Client Services.

The Client Services intern will:

         O Assist Client Services Manger in all aspects of client relations.
         OHelp coordinate client appearances on picnic deck and throughout stadium.
         OResponsible for proof of performance pictures.
         OHelp with organizing special events.
         OHelp when needed with daily ticket sales and work with customers on a one-on- one basis.

Duties: The Concessions intern will report directly to the director of food and beverage. He/she will assist in supervising a part-time staff of 35-50 concessions employees.

The Concession intern will:

O Be responsible for the pre-game set-up of the concession areas
O Take inventory of food items prior to each game
O Oversee and train a staff of 35-50 concession employees
O Assist in unloading food/beverage deliveries
O Help to maintain cleanliness in concession stands
O Assist in food/beverage sales on game nights
O Perform any other duties deemed necessary by your supervisor(s)

Duties: The Ticket Operations intern will report directly to the director of ticket operations and community relations. He/she will assist in supervising a part-time staff of 8-12 employees.

The Ticket Operations intern will:

O Be responsible for daily tickets sales and work with customers on a one-to-one basis
O Assist in all aspects of selling group, season and individual sales
O Assist in running the box office and front gates on game nights
O Help to schedule and plan picnics
O Execute a number of mailings concerning ticket operations, renewals, and others as deemed necessary by the director of ticket operations
O Be responsible for set-up/inventory of souvenir store
O Supervise and schedule all souvenir employees
O Perform any other duties deemed necessary by your supervisor(s)

O Assist with game day entertainment preparation (scoreboard/music)
O Assist with on-field promotions during games
O Perform numerous game day duties
O Maintain press box
O Perform any other duties deemed necessary by your supervisor(s)
