Presented With Championship Rings
Bradenton, FL -- The Crosscutters front office staff traveled to Bradenton, Florida during spring training to present the 2001 Crosscutters players with their Championship rings in a special ceremony at Pirate City. The ceremony was held on-field in front of all Pirates minor league players. Speakers at the ceremony included; Pirates GM Dave Littlefield and Pirates Manager Lloyd McClendon.

Prospect In NY-P League VanBenschoten received a $2.4 million Cutters Set New Attendance Record For Williamsport! WILLIAMSPORT, Pa -- With 72,258 fans through the turnstiles, at Historic Bowman Field this summer, the Williamsport Crosscutters set a new short-season attendance record for a Williamsport Team. The old record of 67,220 was attained by the 2000 Crosscutters. In addition, the per game average attendance of 2,007 shattered the highest per game average in Williamsport baseball history, dating back to the late 1800's. The highest per game average record was previously held by the 1996 Williamsport Cubs who averaged 1808 fans per game. League Cancels Remainder of Championship Series WILLIAMSPORT, Pa (September 12, 2001) -- The New York-Penn League has cancelled games 2 and 3 of the NY-P League Championship Series between the Williamsport Crosscutters and Brooklyn Cyclones. The games were scheduled to be played in Brooklyn, NY tonight and tomorrow. "Due to the emergency situation in the New York Metropolitan area, and out of respect to the families and friends of those who lost their lives or were injured in yesterday's tragic events, we are canceling the remainder of the Championship Series in Brooklyn," said Ben Hayes, President of the New York-Penn League. Williamsport and Brooklyn have been named co-champions of the NY-P League. Brooklyn beat Williamsport 7-4 in Game 1 of the series played Monday evening in Williamsport. |
